AC/DC in Columbus, Ohio
Sunday September 4th Nationwide Arena, Cleveland, Ohio: Axl Rose let his intentions be known while introducing, “Let There Be Rock” by promising to take the audience back to “biblical times.” The song climaxed with guitarist Angus Young ascending heavenward on an elevated platform during an extended solo.
Axl Rose appeared to be completely recovered from an April foot injury he suffered fronting for Guns ‘N Roses last spring. Axl possesses a higher range, more in-line with Bon Scott’s, and it is revitalizing the band’s catalog of classic hits, by injecting the songs with a more savage sounding quality.
Rose didn’t carry himself like an elitist Rock Star, instead he chose to shine the spotlight on his band-mates, particularly 61-year-old, Angus Young. During the two-and-a-half-hour concert, Young, dressed in his signature “school-boy-uniform”, strutted across the stage, sprinted up and down a 25-yard catwalk, and feigned collapse as confetti showered the audience.
Social media is filled with praise for this collaboration between Axl and Angus and we have to agree.
Here’s the view of the show from Taylor Ward’s vantage point.
