John Fogerty Show-Stopping Performance Bourbon & Beyond
Creedence Clearwater Revival lead singer and guitarist, John Fogerty was a showstopper at Bourbon & Beyond on Friday night. Fogerty is touring with a five-piece band that swells to 12 during the set after adding in dancers and backing singers. His son Shane is by his side on guitar and super drummer, Kenny Aronoff is keeping the beat. He started the show by exclaiming that he was, “Celebrating 50 years of my trip so let’s get this thing going!”
He spun tales of Woodstock, brought out surprise guests, and showed off some incredibly historic instruments. He mentioned the Rickenbacker Guitar in his hand before playing “Who’ll Stop the Rain?” as the guitar, he purchased during the first week of 1969 and used at the iconic Woodstock Festival, “changing his life forever…”
He plays the hits everyone wants to hear like “Born on the Bayou” and “Fortunate Son” and offers some fresh takes on covers Gen Z and millennials might be unfamiliar with from Sly & the Family Stone and the Plastic Ono Band. The sound is great, the band is tight, and Fogerty is on his game. The crowd voiced their approval loudly and social media has had nothing but praise for this performance. Fogerty is set for another ride on the rock & roll roller-coaster in this chapter of his life and we’re ready to make the trip, again.
