I recently had the opportunity to speak with Delaney Gibson about her album, “Tall like the Tree,” and about her interests among other things of this highly talented unique artist Austin, TX has to offer.

Delaney Gibson’s early influences include American singer Laura Branigan in her early life to Tori Amos and Courtney Love when she was growing up. Her influences now are Queen, movie soundtracks, Michael J. Tino, and anything cinematic. She loves movie soundtracks.

Gibson hails from Ventura, California and lived in New York for a good part of her life. She grew tired of the weather in California heading for New York to focus on her music. Her husband’s education and career path landed the couple in Austin, TX.

Gibson revealed that “Tall like the Tree” took two months to make. She had written 72-73 songs in New York for the album in her Bronx apartment. Her favorite track off of the record is “Lions” because she feels this song connects with everyone the most. Her favorite famous person to have met has been Laura Branigan who she ended up opening for. She also had the opportunity to meet David Foster.

Delaney’s favorite place to travel to is Prague and the UK. When she went to the UK, she has a 35-36 show tour in 37 days and go to see every town. Her favorite venues to perform in have been the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles, CA and the Bitter End in New York City.
