Hero Jr. To Film Concert In Fountain Square

Hero Jr. is just one of those bands that I feel immediately comfortable listening to. I get a good feeling about what I hear, because what I hear is good, solid rock and roll roots music. I am fortunate to be able to see and listen to a lot of bands and musicians in my line of work as a music photographer and writer. Like everyone else, I have my own likes and dislikes when it comes to music and I am given an opportunity to hear things I may normally not hear. I first saw Hero Jr. in 2013 and I was immediately struck by their energy, passion and talent. I just liked what I heard right away. I was impressed by their non-flashy attitude. It’s an attitude that just exudes hard work and serious ass-kicking. This is truly one of the hardest working bands around, and it shows. I had the opportunity to see these guys a couple of other times and they just keep getting better and better.

Last night I was invited to come see a 30-40 minute acoustic set at the Fountain Square Brewing Co. in Fountain Square near downtown Indianapolis. It was obvious that these guys are honored to play in front of their community. Fountain Square is a quaint, tightly knit artist community that is inviting and comfortable. Fountain Square Brewery, started in 2010, chose this community because of their passion for the arts and local artists. They have a monthly event called First Friday, where they run specials on their brews and have local artists join in and display their work. Last night’s casual event celebrated the tapping of a new beer called Hero Hefe Jr. in honor of the band that calls Fountain Square home.

The band just finished a tour that took them all across the Midwest and ended in New York. Hero Jr. will be performing a special concert this Saturday at the Grove Haus in Fountain Square. If you haven’t yet seen this band, treat yourself to a great night out this Saturday.
