Cowboy Jack Passes at 82
The Examiner is reporting that Jack Clement, better known as “Cowboy Jack” passed away at home this morning at the age of 82. The Country Music Hall of Fame planned to induct him later this year.
During his vast career, Jack has been a dance instructor, a movie producer, a songwriter, a performer and a recording artist and a record producer.
He had produced records for such greats as Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, Charlie Rich, Charley Pride, Louis Armstrong, U2, Tompall & the Glaser Brothers, the Stonemans, John Hartford, Mac Wiseman, Doc Watson, Frank Yankovic, John Prine, Emmylou Harris, Townes Van Zandt, Dickey Lee and Bobby Bare.
Born on April 5, 1931, Jack began playing guitar while he was a teenager.
