Post Malone is not your typical rapper. Born Austin Richard Post in Syracuse, New York, he grew up listening to a variety of genres, from hip hop to country to rock, thanks to his DJ father. He taught himself guitar by playing Guitar Hero, and started making music as a teenager, dabbling in heavy metal, soft rock and FL Studio. He moved to Los Angeles with his friend Jason Probst, a professional game streamer, and joined a music collective called BLCKVRD. There, he met producers 1st Down and Rex Kudo, who helped him craft his breakthrough hit “White Iverson”, a tribute to basketball legend Allen Iverson. The song went viral on SoundCloud in 2015, and caught the attention of stars like Mac Miller and Wiz Khalifa.

Since then, Post Malone has become one of the most successful and versatile artists in the music industry, blending hip hop, pop, R&B, trap and rock elements in his songs. He has released four albums: Stoney (2016), Beerbongs & Bentleys (2018), Hollywood’s Bleeding (2019) and Twelve Carat Toothache (2022), all of which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart. He has also scored four number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100: “Rockstar” (featuring 21 Savage), “Psycho” (featuring Ty Dolla Sign), “Sunflower” (with Swae Lee) and “Circles”. He has collaborated with artists like Justin Bieber, Kanye West, Ozzy Osbourne, The Weeknd and Doja Cat. He has won 10 Billboard Music Awards, three American Music Awards and one MTV Video Music Award, and has been nominated for nine Grammy Awards.
