Prince – Nothing Compares 2 U
This is unseen rehearsal footage of Prince & The Revolution from the summer of 1984. In a strange bit of timing, his estate released the long-lost studio recording of Prince performing his composition “Nothing Compares 2 U” today. He composed it for his group “The Family” but it didn’t become a hit until 1990 when Sinéad O’Connor recorded it.
RELATED: Pollstar is reporting that Carver County Attorney Mark Metz’s announcement on no criminal charges came just hours after documents revealed that a doctor who was accused of illegally prescribing an opioid for Prince had agreed to pay $30,000 to settle a federal civil violation.
I go out every night and sleep all day
Since you took your love away
I can see whomever I choose
I can eat my dinner in a fancy restaurant
But nothing
I said nothing can take away these blues
‘Cause nothing compares
Nothing compares to you
Like a bird without a song
Nothing can stop these lonely tears from falling
Tell me baby where did I go wrong
But they’d only remind me of you
I went to the doctor and guess what he told me?
Guess what he told me?
He said girl you better try to have fun
No matter what you do, but he’s a fool
‘Cause nothing compares
Nothing compares to you
In the back yard
All died when you went away
I know that living with you baby was sometimes hard
But I’m willing to give it another try
‘Cause nothing compares
Nothing compares to you
Nothing compares to you
Nothing compares
Nothing compares to you
