The Easthills at Hoosier Park Aug. 15, 2015

It couldn’t have been a more perfect evening in Anderson Indiana’s ultimate entertainment center, Hoosier Park Racing and Casino, as local favorites The Easthills were the supporting act for REO Speedwagon.  The 4300 seat venue was sold out, and when you’re in the music business, even the best laid plans change in 20 minutes.  If you look closely, you can see a box truck in the background beside the stage, and without even the benefit of a sound check, the Rushville Indiana natives slammed a couple of cold ones and  took the stage.   The Easthills blew the audience away with tracks from their Death of a Salesman CD, and World Class Prick EP, getting the audience pumped for REO Speedwagon, who simply brought the house down.  In a business where it’s hard to get a break, this photographer photographed them for the first time just 3 years ago, playing to an audience of only 14 people.  They quickly have risen to become the opening act for major acts such as Tesla, played the NCAA Final Four tournament, sharing a stage with Weezer, and this is the second or third time they’ve opened for REO Speedwagon.   All photographs, copyright Larry Philpot.
