Dappy Joins A!MS for a Song About Loyalty Before and After Success

The sharpest line in A!MS’ “Don’t Die” arrives when Dappy addresses the people who suddenly make contact once someone’s fortunes improve: “They wanna call you now that you’re up / But your number was the same back when you was down.” It is a familiar observation, delivered here as part of a broader song about friendship, credibility, and staying power.

Those concerns run throughout the new single and its official music video. A!MS and Dappy use “the real don’t die” as both a refrain and a measure of character. Longevity, in this context, comes from the relationships and creative impact that remain after attention has moved elsewhere.

The chorus holds peace and confrontation in the same frame. It asks where love and peace have gone while acknowledging the defensive instincts that street conflict can create. Rather than resolving that tension neatly, the song allows both impulses to remain present.

“Don’t Die” draws from melodic rap and dancehall, two components of A!MS’ Global Street sound. The British-Cypriot artist uses that description for music informed by UK hip-hop and garage, Mediterranean culture, Caribbean influences, and the wider diaspora. His base in Ayia Napa has allowed those references to develop outside the usual center of the British industry.

There is also a striking piece of history attached to the title. Chris Brown painted the words “Don’t Die” inside A!MS’ family-operated Club Black N’ White in 2015. When A!MS encountered the mural again years later, the song with Dappy had already been recorded. The rediscovery subsequently inspired the release artwork.

Produced by The Pushers, “Don’t Die” was written by A!MS and Dappy, mixed by Hypertone, and mastered by Hippy at Metropolis Studios. The video stars both performers and was directed by The Dor Brothers and WALKMNS, with production by WALKMNS and 3FIFTY7.

The track is scheduled to appear on Peak Season – Deluxe, joining three other additions to A!MS’ original 2025 album. Streaming and download options are available here, while the video can be watched through A!MS’ official YouTube presence.
