Eric Hirshberg Brings ‘More Is Not The Answer’ Home to Los Angeles

Eric Hirshberg’s October 17 album-release show at The Peppermint Club places a record about presence in a setting built around a shared experience. With special guest Aloe Blacc joining him in Los Angeles, the performance follows the release of More Is Not The Answer and its new focus track, “Machine Against The Rage.”

The album, available October 16, gathers ten songs examining how people direct their attention and sustain connections. Its Los Angeles celebration also carries a personal link to the material: the title track was written after Hirshberg and his family were forced to evacuate during the city’s wildfires.

That song considers what matters when there is room to take only a few possessions. Elsewhere, “Less Important Things” approaches priorities through the experience of becoming an empty nester. These family-centred subjects bring a private dimension to a collection that also addresses technology and public division.

Aloe Blacc’s appearance follows his collaboration with Hirshberg on “For Real.” The song’s call for empathy and genuine conversation helped introduce the album’s perspective, and led to Hirshberg’s national television performance debut on Live with Kelly and Mark.

“Machine Against The Rage,” released with an official music video, now brings that perspective into sharper focus. The title’s apparent promise of a new system gives way to a human solution: people listening, bridging differences and refusing to let anger determine every interaction.

The record also considers the everyday barriers to that kind of exchange. “The Grand Elsewhere” describes the semi-distraction of being mentally drawn into a device, while “We’re All In This Alone” examines the paradox of isolation within constant connection. In that context, a live gathering offers a fitting place to introduce the complete collection.

The October 17 show brings the material to The Peppermint Club in Hirshberg’s hometown as the album begins its release weekend. Further information is available through his official website. For an album repeatedly concerned with the value of being present, the move from individual listening to a roomful of people is a meaningful next step.
